Russian ballistic missiles hit energy facilities, a medical facility, and a non-residential building in Kyiv overnight during the early hours of Monday morning, the Daily Mail reported. The strikes killed one person and left two others injured. The Daily Mail and Reddit both reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Western allies provided no early warning before the latest Russian strikes hit the capital. [1][7]

The latest strike on Kyiv comes after 2,700 Russian attack drones targeted Ukraine in the past week, according to the Daily Mail. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Zelensky previously criticized Western allies for failing to give advance notice before a Russian missile hit a critical Kyiv power plant earlier in October. [1][16]

The incident occurred alongside an escalating political dispute between Ukrainian leadership and United States President Donald Trump. The South China Morning Post and the New York Post reported that Trump suggested someone other than Zelensky should negotiate on Ukraine's behalf to end the conflict. [2][5]

Zelensky stated that Trump is pushing Ukraine to surrender to Russia, according to Inquirer.com and the New York Times. Russia launched a full scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, initiating the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II. [6][11][12]
