Young members of a local football club formed a guard of honour in Waterford on Sunday as the coffins of four family members were brought into a local church, the Irish Examiner reported. Philip English, his wife Kim English, and their two sons, 12-year-old Callum and nine-year-old Jayden, died following an arson attack on their home on Tuesday. [1][4][5]
The four coffins were carried into the Sacred Heart Church Parish Centre in The Folly, Waterford, ahead of the funeral, according to the Irish Examiner. Teammates of one of the young boys from the football club, who had recently celebrated a six to one victory, stood outside to pay their respects to the family. [1]
As FTMQ News reported earlier, two surviving children were also injured in the petrol bomb attack. Their aunt stated that a teenage girl is making slow progress in the hospital, while her younger brother remains in critical condition. Gardaí opened a murder investigation following the fatal incident. [1][4]
Two people have since appeared before Clonmel District Court in connection with the attack, as FTMQ News reported earlier. Cian Stacey and Jessica Dalton each face one count of criminal damage and two counts of assault causing serious harm. [5]
