Two people charged in connection with a house fire that killed four members of the same family in Waterford have been remanded in continuing custody. The Irish Examiner reported that Cian Stacey, aged 21, and Jessica Dalton, aged 31, appeared before Waterford District Court on Tuesday. [1]
Both defendants face one count of criminal damage and two counts of assault causing serious harm. According to the Irish Examiner, Mr Stacey appeared in court by video link and agreed to a 28-day remand in custody while awaiting directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions. [1]
As FTMQ News reported earlier, the charges follow an arson attack on a home in Waterford. Philip and Kim English died in the fire alongside their young sons, Callum and Jayden. Two other children survived the blaze, with one remaining in critical condition. [3][4]
The funeral for the four family members took place recently at Sacred Heart Church Parish Centre, where members of a local football club formed a guard of honour. The defendants were previously brought before Clonmel District Court on Saturday before their latest court appearance in Waterford. [1][3][4]
