Ukraine's ambassador to the European Union stated that Hungary has no substantive objections preventing the opening of the country's final accession clusters before the end of the year.

Hungary has raised no new substantive objections to European Union accession talks for Ukraine, according to Euronews reporting on statements by Taras Kachka, Kyiv's ambassador to the bloc. Kachka expressed confidence that the remaining two negotiating clusters could open before the end of the year. His remarks come one day before the European Commission is scheduled to publish its latest enlargement assessment. [1]
The ambassador spoke in his first interview since taking up his post in Brussels. The Kyiv Independent reported that the European Union is set to reveal its verdict on progress in Kyiv, while neighboring Moldova continues its own reform efforts. [1][2]
As FTMQ News reported earlier, Ukraine's parliament previously passed a minority rights law to ease long-standing diplomatic tensions with Hungary. That legislation opened the path for negotiating clusters, and Hungary subsequently lifted an earlier veto to allow progress on accession negotiations. [11][12]
Ukraine is currently one of nine official candidate countries seeking accession to the European Union, alongside Moldova, Georgia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Turkey. [8][9]
