Uisce Éireann has agreed to meet with community members in Ballyheigue, County Kerry, following a do not consume notice that has been in place for more than four weeks, Radio Kerry reported. The notice was issued for the Ballyheigue Public Water Supply on October 7 after saltwater contaminated the system, as Radio Kerry and FTMQ News both reported. [1][5]

The issue initially affected over 3,500 Uisce Éireann customers, according to Radio Kerry. Radio Kerry and FTMQ News both reported that 200 homes in Causeway were later taken off the notice after being switched to the Listowel Public Water Supply. Radio Kerry noted that local residents raised concerns in a letter sent to the utility last week, leading to the agreed meeting. [1][5]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, Sinn Féin housing spokesperson Eoin Ó Broin previously criticised delays in delivering bottled water to the area and questioned central government funding levels for Uisce Éireann. [5]

Ballyheigue is a coastal town located 18 kilometres northwest of Tralee along the R551 road. The scenic area forms part of the Wild Atlantic Way and lies near Kerry Head. [3][4]
