Fox News reported that Uber removed a driver after a 22-year-old woman shared details about a disturbing late-night ride in Chicago. The passenger, identified as Elyse Madrid, stated that she and a friend ordered an Uber at around 2:30 a.m. on a recent Saturday. They were travelling from the Belmont Cragin neighborhood of Chicago to a karaoke bar. [1]
According to Fox News, citing CBS News Chicago, Madrid noticed during the trip that the vehicle did not appear to be moving in the correct direction. Her concern increased when she observed the driver cancel the trip within the app while she and her friend were still inside the car. [1]
Fox News reported that Madrid issued a warning to other rideshare passengers following the incident. A rideshare expert also weighed in on the situation after Madrid shared her experience publicly. [1]
As FTMQ News reported earlier, rideshare services have featured in previous safety incidents, including an October incident in Florida where a woman used an Uber to track her boyfriend prior to a shooting. [2]
