President Donald Trump attributed a sharp drop in the stock market on Thursday to the Democratic Party winning the United States midterm elections. The New York Post, Fox Business, and the Hindustan Times reported that Trump posted on Truth Social calling the decline a sad thing to watch and stating that the market suffered a major fall following the election results. [1][3][8]

The New York Post reported that Thursday's stock sell-off erased trillions of dollars in value in a single day. Trump stated that the losses impacted retirement accounts and pointed blame at Democrats rather than Republicans. [1]

Following the midterm results, Democrats are preparing to open investigations into the administration. CNBC reported that Democrats plan to scrutinize administration mineral deals, energy project cancellations, and intervention in Venezuela. The Washington Examiner reported that Judiciary Committee Democrats have begun recruiting investigative staff and lawyers for the upcoming Congress. [5][7]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, the Democratic Party won control of both chambers of the United States Congress during the midterm elections. The Washington Examiner reported that newly elected Democrats included James Talarico in Texas and Adam Hamilton in Kansas. [2][14][15]
