President Donald Trump and former President Barack Obama delivered rival primetime campaign speeches on Wednesday with six days remaining before the US midterm elections. The New York Post and The New York Times reported that Trump held a campaign rally in Ohio while Obama campaigned in Georgia. Reuters, Al Jazeera, and CNN also reported that both men traded barbs during their speeches in the final week of the campaign. [1][3][4][5][8][9]

According to the New York Post, Trump spoke in Ohio to support Republican Senator Jon Husted and gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. Trump criticized Obama over his handling of Iran and claimed Obama allowed the White House to fall into disrepair, stating that bricks were falling and stone was broken. Trump sarcastically added that he worries when Obama campaigns, noting that Obama previously campaigned for Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris before they lost. [1]

The Guardian reported that Obama spoke in suburban Atlanta to support Jon Ossoff for the US Senate and Keisha Lance Bottoms for governor. Obama laughed off attacks from Trump during his appearance. Additionally, the Washington Examiner reported that Obama offered a retort to Trump regarding White House renovations, stating he was a Cheesecake Factory regular for a decade. [6][7]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, the rival events follow previous exchanges between the two leaders over White House decor. Obama had criticized Trump during a campaign event in Cleveland, Ohio, which prompted Trump to respond during a rally in Mississippi. [11][12]

According to Al Jazeera, Democrats currently lead national polls as both leaders campaign in key states ahead of the midterm elections. [5]
