Rapper Nicki Minaj publicly criticized New York Governor Kathy Hochul on Tuesday, calling the Democratic incumbent an evil woman who should be replaced by her party. The New York Post reported that the musician posted on social media to urge voters to back Republican candidate Bruce Blakeman in the upcoming gubernatorial election. [1]

In response to the attacks, Governor Hochul advised Minaj to get outside, Newsday, The Hill, and Baller Alert reported. According to The Hill, Hochul also stated that rallies for Donald Trump were poisoning the rapper's mind. [6][7][8]

The public dispute comes as Hochul holds a double digit lead in the race. Fox News and amNewYork both reported that a new Siena Research Institute poll shows Hochul leading Blakeman by 14 points, with 54 percent support among likely voters compared to Blakeman's 40 percent. This margin expanded from a nine point lead in September. [2][3][4]

Minaj, whose real name is Onika Maraj, is a Trinidadian-raised musical artist and entrepreneur. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Minaj previously planned to join Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Michigan to support Republican candidates ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. [1][9][12][14]

Blakeman currently serves as the executive of Nassau County. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Hochul is the 57th governor of New York and the first woman to hold the position. [2][10][13]
