Three death row inmates executed across three U.S. states

Three death row inmates were executed in the United States on Thursday, November 5, UPI reported. The executions took place across Indiana, Florida, and Alabama. UPI noted that this was the second time in 2026 that three death row inmates were executed on the same day, following a similar occurrence on August 13. [1]

In Indiana, authorities executed Jeffrey Weisheit in the early hours of Thursday, according to UPI. Weisheit was executed for setting a fire that killed the two children of his girlfriend, eight-year-old Alyssa Lynch and five-year-old Caleb Lynch. [1]

Florida executed Jesse Guardado for stabbing and beating a 75-year-old community activist to death, UPI reported. In Alabama, officials executed Michael Taylor for beating an elderly couple to death during a robbery. [1]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, debate surrounding capital punishment in the United States continues as Pope Leo XIV recently reiterated the Catholic Church's opposition to the death penalty. That statement came ahead of the scheduled December execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan, who killed 13 people and injured 32 others in 2009. [3]
