Thief steals Halloween lawn decorations from Arizona family home

A thief stole multiple Halloween decorations from a family front lawn in Surprise, Arizona, around 4:00 a.m. on October 21. FOX 10 reported the incident, which was recounted by the New York Post. Security cameras captured the suspect taking the items from the Ostrander family property. [1]

The stolen items included two artificial tombstones, a fake skull, and a plastic skeleton dog that the family had named Ellie. Sydney Ostrander told FOX 10 that it was disappointing to worry about theft while decorating their home. She noted that the family discovered the missing items after checking the property. [1]

Halloween traditions trace back more than 2,000 years to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. The Celts celebrated the festival in areas that are now part of Ireland, the United Kingdom, and northern France to mark the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. [4]
