A veterinarian in an Illinois village shot and killed four family members before taking his own life in a mass murder-suicide, the New York Post reported. Police identified the shooter as Bryan Schmidt, who turned the gun on himself after killing his elderly parents, his son, and his girlfriend. [1]

According to the New York Post, investigating officers discovered multiple suicide notes left behind by Schmidt at the scene. Schmidt had previously managed a cat clinic owned by his family, which is now closed. [1]

The killings in Illinois follow other recent domestic shootings. As FTMQ News reported earlier, five people were found dead from gunshot wounds in Douglas, Georgia, on October 10 in a suspected murder-suicide. In a separate incident, a 76-year-old woman was charged with murder in Uvalda, Georgia, after allegedly shooting her ex-husband and his girlfriend on October 19. [2][3]
