England rugby star Ellie Kildunne has been dropped to the substitute bench for Saturday's match against Canada in Ottawa. BBC News, The Guardian, and The Times all report that the team altered its squad after experiencing a first defeat in four years. [1][3][4]
According to BBC News, Emma Sing will start at full-back in place of Kildunne. Helena Rowland comes in at inside centre for Tatyana Heard, and Mia Venner replaces Claudia Moloney-MacDonald on the wing. Heard and Moloney-MacDonald have both been removed from the matchday squad entirely. [1]
BBC News also reported that Sadia Kabeya will start in the back row, replacing two-time Rugby World Cup winner Alex Matthews, who drops to the bench. Flo Robinson and Hollie Aitchison have also been named among the substitutes for the upcoming match. [1]
Kildunne plays club rugby for the Bristol Bears and was named the World Rugby Women's 15s Player of the Year in 2024. She was a World Cup winner with England in 2025, where she scored the opening try in the final. [5]
