A super PAC supporting retired teacher Dan J. Sullivan in the Alaska Senate race received funding from progressive donors, the New York Post reported on October 19. Disclosures showed that the political group was funded by progressive cash while backing the candidate, who shares his first and last name with incumbent Republican Senator Dan S. Sullivan. [1]
The candidate, referred to by critics as Decoy Dan, appears on the ballot as a Republican. According to the New York Post, he voted against Donald Trump in the last three presidential elections, leading Republicans to accuse him of being a spoiler candidate in the closely watched contest. [1]
As FTMQ News reported earlier, Donald Trump previously claimed that an independent candidate named Dan Sullivan on the Alaska ballot was a Democratic hoax. Trump also stated that authorities were looking into the matter. [5]
Super PACs are independent expenditure-only political action committees that can raise unlimited sums of money from individuals or organizations for campaign advertising. Under United States law, super PACs are prohibited from directly donating to candidate campaigns or coordinating with them. [3]
