President Donald Trump told a rally crowd in Wasilla, Alaska, on Tuesday that Taiwan has agreed to purchase 30 percent of the natural gas produced by an Alaska pipeline project. CNBC and Reuters reported the announcement, which Trump made while campaigning ahead of the upcoming midterm elections. CNBC added that Trump stated Taiwan committed to buying the gas for the next 20 years. [1][2][8]

According to the Washington Examiner, Trump and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick told the crowd that Taiwan committed to both investing in and purchasing the gas from the project. Fox News reported that Trump also announced the natural gas pipeline project has secured federal permits. [1][3]

During the event, Trump brought two local diesel repair shop owners onstage to sign clemency documents. Fox News reported that Trump issued unconditional pardons to Zachary Czubak and Patrick Fleming, who had pleaded guilty in 2022 to conspiracy to violate the Clean Air Act. According to the Washington Examiner, Trump stated that the men were wrongly charged by the previous administration. [3][7]

The rally took place at the Menard Memorial Sports Center in Wasilla, Alaska. Trump is currently serving as the 47th president of the United States. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Trump traveled 3,400 miles to campaign for incumbent Republican Senator Dan Sullivan ahead of the midterm elections, which are scheduled for November 3. [1][2][11][14]
