Representative Haley Stevens has made limited public appearances following her narrow loss in the August Senate Democratic primary, the Washington Examiner reported. Since her defeat, Stevens has endorsed her former rival Abdul el Sayed for the November 3 election. [1]

El Sayed is competing against Republican candidate Mike Rogers for the Michigan seat, according to the Washington Examiner. The seat is currently held by retiring 12 year Senator Gary Peters. [1]

The Washington Examiner noted that pro Israel Democrats are currently on the defensive. The publication suggested that these politicians may need to support the existence of Israel as a Jewish state while becoming more critical of its government policies. [1]

Pro Israel lobbying efforts in the United States are heavily influenced by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. Founded in 1954 as the American Zionist Committee for Public Affairs, the organisation adopted its current name in 1959 and remains one of the most influential lobbying groups in the country. [2]
