Oregon teacher hailed as hero for tackling elementary school gunman

A female teacher at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, tackled a gunman to the ground during a deadly shooting on school picture day, the Daily Mail reported. Bend Police Chief Mike Krantz said the unidentified teacher threw her cellphone at 16-year-old shooter Griffin John II and fought to take his firearm. Chief Krantz noted that her actions almost certainly helped prevent further loss of life. [1]

The gunman attacked the school around 1 p.m. PDT on Thursday, as FTMQ News reported earlier. Four victims were killed in the shooting, including three children aged 5, 8, and 11, alongside a teacher. The tragedy occurred while families had prepared their children for annual photos, according to the father of a third-grade student cited by the Daily Mail.
