NC State fires head football coach Dave Doeren after 14 seasons

North Carolina State University announced on Saturday that it has fired head football coach Dave Doeren. The decision came one day after the Wolfpack fell 31-28 to Stanford on Friday, dropping the team to a 3-4 record for the season. CBS Sports reported that Doeren compiled a 98-73 record at NC State, leading the team to 11 bowl trips over his 14 seasons. Before taking the head coaching role at NC State in 2013, Doeren served as the head football coach at Northern Illinois University from 2011 to 2012 and worked as an assistant coach at Wisconsin, Kansas, Montana, and Southern California.
