Natalia Silva defeated Wang Cong to claim the vacant UFC women's flyweight championship on Saturday night at UFC 332 in Salt Lake City. CBS Sports and Yahoo Sports both reported that Silva won the title bout on points after a back and forth battle against Wang. TNT Sports reported that the victory gave Silva the featherweight title, but CBS Sports, Yahoo Sports, and UFC.com specified that the bout was for the flyweight championship. [1][2][3][7][9][10]

According to CBS Sports, multiple prospects earned technical knockout victories during the event. Yahoo Sports reported that Silva remained one step ahead of Wang throughout the contest to earn the victory. [1][2][3][11]

Silva is a Brazilian mixed martial artist who previously won the Jungle Fight women's flyweight title. Wang is a Chinese mixed martial artist, boxer, and kickboxer who previously won the Kunlun Fight women's lightweight championship. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Silva and Wang fought for the vacant championship after former champion Valentina Shevchenko withdrew from a scheduled fight against Silva because of back and shoulder injuries. [13][14][16][17]

The event was held in Salt Lake City, which is the capital of Utah. As FTMQ News reported earlier, former champion Shevchenko issued a warning to Silva after the fight, telling her not to get comfortable as champion. [12][16]
