Marine Le Pen, the leader of the French National Rally party, criticized the worsening crisis surrounding Poland's Constitutional Tribunal, calling it a cause for profound concern. According to Euronews, she posted on social media that the suspension of the tribunal president and security force interventions resembled a forcible takeover of a constitutional body. Euronews reported that Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski subsequently told Le Pen not to interfere in Polish internal matters. [1]

The dispute centers on an open confrontation involving Polish President Karol Nawrocki, who attempted to enter the tribunal building on Friday night, according to Euronews. France 24 reported that the European Commission urged President Nawrocki on Saturday to recognize new judges appointed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk. As FTMQ News reported earlier, riot police previously secured the tribunal building in Warsaw following demonstrations and the suspension of two senior judges. [1][2][6][7]

The Constitutional Tribunal is the constitutional court of the Republic of Poland. According to France 24, the political standoff over the court comes ahead of next year's parliamentary election in Poland. Polls suggest a close race between the coalition led by Donald Tusk and nationalist political forces. [2][4]
