Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has instructed her party to prepare for an immediate general election amid speculation that Andy Burnham could call a snap poll before Christmas. The Daily Mail reported that Badenoch put her party on notice following her speech at the party conference in Birmingham. [1]
Badenoch told The Mail on Sunday that she instructed the Conservative Party to be ready for an election at any point. She stated that she does not believe claims made by Burnham last month that no early vote would take place. [1]
Badenoch has served as Leader of the Opposition and Leader of the Conservative Party since 2024, having previously held cabinet positions under Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak. As FTMQ News reported earlier, her recent party conference pledges included plans to scrap inheritance tax on family homes and spend 10 billion pounds on a proposed Britannia Shield air defence system if elected.
