The NFL announced on Monday that rap mogul Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show in 2027, according to reports from UPI and Pitchfork. Pitchfork and Variety reported that the performance will take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on February 14, 2027. The Daily Mail noted that Jay-Z, who is 56 years old, was officially announced for the slot on Monday night during a broadcast of the game between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles. Jay-Z has served as the strategist for live music entertainment for the NFL since 2019, according to Pitchfork. Pitchfork and The New York Times both reported that his entertainment company, Roc Nation, produces the halftime event, with The New York Times adding that this will mark the eighth Super Bowl halftime show produced by the firm. UPI reported that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell stated he had previously requested that Jay-Z perform on stage himself. [1][2][3]

Born Shawn Corey Carter in Brooklyn, New York, Jay-Z is an American rapper, businessman, and record executive. Forbes estimated his net worth at 2.8 billion US dollars as of 2026, making him the wealthiest music artist in history. In a statement reported by Variety, Jay-Z described the performance as part of a 30-year journey of music, work, and culture. [5][11][13]

The game will mark the first time ESPN televises the Super Bowl, while ABC will air the broadcast for the first time since 2006, according to Pitchfork. Variety added that the halftime performance will be presented as the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show. [2][5]
