John Thune campaigns for Jon Husted in Ohio Senate race

Senate Majority Leader John Thune campaigned alongside Republican Senate nominee Jon Husted on Tuesday night in Lima, Ohio, Fox News reported. Thune referred to Ohio as ground zero for control of the Senate. He warned voters that a Democratic majority in the chamber could lead to a two year impeachment trial against President Donald Trump. Fox News reported that Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz also delivered remarks at the event. Thune praised the work of Dr. Oz to root out waste and fraud, adding that Republicans need to hold the Senate majority so that Dr. Oz can continue his efforts. Thune emphasized that outcome depends on Husted winning the election next week. [1]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, Husted has served as the junior United States senator from Ohio since 2025. Husted is facing Democrat Sherrod Brown in the Senate election. President Donald Trump previously spoke at a campaign rally in Vandalia, Ohio, to support Husted in the tight race. [9][10]

The United States midterm elections are scheduled for November 3, 2026. All 435 seats in the United States House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 seats in the Senate will be contested to determine the 120th United States Congress. [5]
