Republican Senator Roger Marshall has warned that he is in a tight race to keep his United States Senate seat in Kansas, Fox News reported. Marshall cautioned that losing the state could hand Senate control to Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer. A Democrat has not won a Senate election in Kansas since the Great Depression. [1]
The contest was not on national Republican radars until recently, according to Fox News. Moderate megachurch pastor Adam Hamilton has closed the gap against Marshall, pushing the race into toss up territory. Donald Trump was scheduled to hold a rally in Wichita for Marshall shortly after the Senator spoke with reporters. [1]
As FTMQ News reported earlier, Marshall faces Hamilton at a time when poll data shows declining rural support for Republicans. While nearly two thirds of rural voters backed Trump in the 2024 presidential election, less than half indicated plans to support Republicans in the upcoming midterms. [5]
Donald Trump took office as the 47th president of the United States on January 20, 2025, after winning the 2024 election against Democratic nominee Kamala Harris. The Republican Party currently holds simple majorities in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, maintaining a federal government trifecta. [2]
