Actor Jesse Eisenberg has declined to reprise his role as Mark Zuckerberg in Aaron Sorkin's film follow up, titled The Social Reckoning. The Wrap and Variety reported that Sorkin attempted to convince the actor to rejoin the project for the 2026 follow up to the 2010 movie The Social Network. [1][2]

According to The Wrap, Sorkin explained that money does not motivate Eisenberg. Variety reported that Sorkin admitted it never occurred to him that the actor would not be on board, and stated that the paycheck was a disincentive for Eisenberg. [1][2]

Sorkin wrote and directed The Social Reckoning, taking over directing duties on the new film. Eisenberg previously received an Oscar nomination in 2011 for his performance as the tech giant in the original hit movie, The Wrap reported. [1]

Eisenberg began his career as a child in theater productions before starring in the 2002 independent film Roger Dodger. Very few of the original collaborators from the 2010 hit film have returned for the new Facebook project, according to The Wrap. [1][4]
