Television producer and former network executive Jerry Golod has died at the age of 87 following a brief battle with cancer.

Variety and The Hollywood Reporter both reported that television executive and producer Jerry Golod died on Wednesday at his home in Rancho Mirage, California, at the age of 87. According to The Hollywood Reporter, his daughter, Dori Golod Howell, confirmed that he passed away following a brief battle with cancer. [1][2][3]
Variety and The Hollywood Reporter both reported that Golod worked as a television executive at both CBS and NBC during a career that spanned more than four decades. According to Variety, Golod launched his own company, JayGee Productions, in the early 1980s. Variety noted that after observing the success of Stephen King's 1982 film Creepshow, Golod collaborated with director George A. Romero and producer Richard P. Rubinstein to adapt the concept into the television series Tales From the Darkside. [1][2]
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Golod also served as a producer on several other television projects, including Adderly, Return to Green Acres, and a rebooted version of Land of the Lost. Land of the Lost was a half-hour Saturday morning children's television series that debuted on ABC in the autumn of 1991, serving as a remake of an original show that ran from 1974 to 1976. [2][7]
