London police are preparing to interview Jeffrey Donaldson over an alleged rape inside the Houses of Parliament, the BBC reported. The Metropolitan Police issued a statement confirming that a 63 year old man is being investigated, without naming the disgraced former politician. The Telegraph also reported that Mr Donaldson has been accused of raping a woman in Westminster in 2016. [1][4][5]

The Police Service of Northern Ireland has interviewed the woman involved and shared information with officers in London, according to the BBC. The claim relates to an alleged attack at the heart of the political establishment in Westminster. [1]

The investigation comes after Mr Donaldson was sentenced to 15 years in prison last week for a series of child sex offences against two victims. The Daily Mail and independent.ie both reported that he has begun serving his 15 year jail sentence. According to the BBC, his convictions included one count of rape for offences that occurred between 1985 and 2008, and he is now seeking to appeal those convictions. [1][2][3]

Mr Donaldson served as the leader of the Democratic Unionist Party from 2021 until 2024. He resigned from the political party following his arrest for child sex offences. [6]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, Metropolitan Police officers planned to question the former party leader in prison regarding the claims. The allegations involve an alleged sexual assault inside his House of Commons office. [10]
