U2 to perform at first NFL Thanksgiving Eve halftime show

Irish rock group U2 will headline the halftime show at the first NFL Thanksgiving Eve game on November 25, UPI reported. The game will feature the Green Bay Packers against the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. UPI and Netflix both reported that the performance will take place during the new holiday broadcast. [1][2]

The National Football League announced the news on Tuesday, according to UPI. The performance will mark and celebrate the band's 50th anniversary as a group. Fronted by lead singer Bono, the band is famous for hit songs including With or Without You and I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, UPI noted. [1]

The National Football League has played games on Thanksgiving Day since its founding in 1920, continuing a tradition borrowed from college football. The Detroit Lions have hosted an annual Thanksgiving game since 1934, while the Dallas Cowboys have hosted one since 1966. A third prime-time game with rotating teams was added to the holiday schedule in 2006. [7]

The upcoming game will be broadcast live on Netflix, according to reports from Netflix, The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline, and IMDb. [2][3][4][6]
