Democratic Representative Jared Moskowitz kept the door open on Thursday to running for Florida's United States Senate seat in 2028, the Washington Examiner reported. His comments follow the defeat of Democratic challenger Angie Nixon by Republican Senator Ashley Moody, as reported by WUSF, the Florida Phoenix, and The New York Times. [1][2][3][4]

The Washington Examiner reported that Democrats view Ashley Moody as vulnerable because she defeated Angie Nixon by less than three percentage points. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Ashley Moody secured 50.7 percent of the vote compared to 48.2 percent for Angie Nixon. Ashley Moody is serving as the junior United States senator from Florida after previously serving as Florida attorney general. [1][6][10]

Jared Moskowitz won reelection on Tuesday by nearly five percentage points against Republican Scott Singer, according to the Washington Examiner. The outlet reported that Jared Moskowitz retained his House seat despite efforts by Republicans to redraw his district and heavy spending to defeat him in a costly race. Jared Moskowitz has served as the U.S. representative for Florida's 23rd congressional district since 2023. [1][5]

Jared Moskowitz previously served on the Broward County Commission and as Director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management. Angie Nixon has served as a member of the Florida House of Representatives since 2020. Ashley Moody won the Senate seat previously held by Marco Rubio. [5][7][10]
