Republican Senator Ashley Moody won the general election in Florida on Tuesday against Democratic challenger Angie Nixon. The Washington Examiner reported that Moody won 50.7 percent of the vote compared to 48.2 percent for Nixon. The Associated Press called the race at 8:34 p.m., according to the Washington Examiner and PBS NewsHour. [1][4]

The Washington Examiner described the contest as one of the most consequential Senate races of the autumn, as Republicans sought to maintain control of the chamber. Decision Desk HQ also projected a win for Moody, according to The New York Times. [1][2]

Moody was appointed to the United States Senate in 2025 and previously served as the attorney general of Florida from 2019 to 2025. She won the election to complete the term of Marco Rubio, who resigned in 2025 to become United States secretary of state. Nixon has served in the Florida House of Representatives since 2020. [11][12][13]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, Moody previously received an endorsement from Teamsters President Sean O'Brien, while former President Barack Obama endorsed Nixon during her campaign. [16][17]
