ICE agent in New York shooting linked to past incident

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement supervisor seen holding a rifle after an October 8 shooting in New York was previously filmed during an arrest in Minneapolis, Al Jazeera reported. In the earlier December incident, agents knelt on and dragged a pregnant woman through the street. [1]

The shooting occurred during a targeted immigration operation in New York City. Theliberal.ie reported that an officer shot and injured a conscious man on Thursday afternoon, while Mother Jones specified that the person shot was a 28-year-old man in the Bronx. According to msnbc.com, Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin identified the driver as Oscar Belgal. [1][2][3][5]

A 5-year-old child was inside the vehicle at the time of the shooting, according to msnbc.com and theliberal.ie. Mullin stated that officers were not aware the child was in the car and suggested that the driver was to blame for endangering the child, msnbc.com reported. [2][3]

The shooting triggered immediate protests in the streets. Mother Jones reported that demonstrators clashed with the New York Police Department on Thursday night, resulting in at least five arrests, while theliberal.ie also reported angry protests from local residents following the incident. [3][5]
