The Green Party aims to ensure it is not vulnerable to extremists and racists after passing a controversial motion stating that Zionism is racism. The BBC reported that Westminster leader Ellie Chowns declared the motion a significant and damaging policy and promised to work toward party reform. [1]

According to the BBC, the motion was put forward by activists and approved at the party conference earlier in October. Former party leader Caroline Lucas stated that some individuals joined the party specifically to vote for the measure. The Daily Mail added that the passed policy also effectively calls for a single democratic Palestinian state across all of historic Palestine. [1][3]

The policy decision has divided party members and faced criticism from Jewish groups. The Daily Mail reported that senior Green Party figures have raised doubts about the future of leader Zack Polanski. The turmoil follows a by-election defeat in Holborn and St Pancras, where Labour maintained control of the parliamentary seat, as FTMQ News reported earlier. [1][3][10][11]

Green parties are formally organized political parties built upon the core principles of green politics, including social justice and environmentalism. [9]
