Germany is seeking a solution to host next year's world ice hockey championship while excluding Russia, DW reported. A German government spokesman stated that an impasse remains following a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport last week. Despite discussions involving the German Ice Hockey Federation and the International Ice Hockey Federation, officials have not yet resolved the issue. [1][2][3]

The conflict follows an October 30 decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, according to DW. Since that ruling, several major ice hockey nations, including Finland, Sweden, and Czechia, announced they would refuse to play against Russia in any tournament where Russian teams participate. [1]

The dispute over hosting the tournament follows earlier developments. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Germany considered withdrawing as host of the 2027 Ice Hockey World Championship after multiple European nations declared they would not play against Russia. The Court of Arbitration for Sport had overturned a four-year ban on Russian national teams on October 30. [14]

Germany is continuing negotiations with international sports bodies to resolve whether Russia can be excluded from the tournament while keeping the hosting rights in Germany, DW reported. [1][2][3]
