Former police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon entered the witness box in Sydney to give evidence in his double murder trial. The 31-year-old is accused of fatally shooting Jesse Baird and Luke Davies in Paddington, Sydney, in February 2024. The Guardian, ABC News Australia, and The Canberra Times all reported that the former officer took the stand to testify. [1][2][4][6][7]

According to ABC News Australia, the prosecution states that Lamarre-Condon shot the couple with his police pistol at the Paddington share house of Jesse Baird on 19 February 2024. ABC News Australia reported that prosecutors allege Lamarre-Condon developed an obsessive infatuation with Baird following a casual romance in 2023. During his testimony, Lamarre-Condon spoke about traumatic events from his time in the police force, telling the court he graphically remembered 12 to 15 incidents including train deaths and hangings, as reported by the Guardian. [1][2]

The Daily Mail reported that the court heard details about the day Baird died, which was 19 February 2024. Baird had been offered a job as an executive producer for a shark documentary on 13 February and was scheduled to begin work from home on the day he was killed. Television production company owner Lana Thrupp stated that she was impressed by his enthusiasm after interviewing him. [3]

Jesse Baird was an Australian television presenter on Network 10 programs, including Studio 10, and served as an Australian Football League goal umpire. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Lamarre-Condon has pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder, with the court previously hearing evidence regarding voice notes sent after the killings and a van ride involving the disposal of the bodies.
