Former California police sergeant arrested over alleged sexual assaults of colleagues

Authorities arrested former California police sergeant Charles Starnes on October 29 after charges were filed regarding the alleged sexual assault of two female colleagues. The New York Post reported that the Orange County District Attorney's Office announced four felony charges against the 52-year-old, including kidnapping and multiple counts of sexual assault. The US Marshals Service took Mr Starnes into custody. [1]

According to the New York Post, the alleged offenses occurred over a span of more than ten years. Prosecutors allege that Mr Starnes assaulted a fellow officer in 2007 and targeted another employee of the same department in 2020. In one incident, he is accused of dragging an officer out of a bar before attacking her in a nearby parking lot. [1]

The Garden Grove Police Department stated that it will keep cooperating with law enforcement officials while the investigation moves forward, the New York Post reported. [1]
