Fishermen rescue cruise ship pianist found treading water in Pacific

Two fishermen rescued an unidentified Royal Caribbean pianist around noon on November 8 roughly 20 miles off the coast of Catalina Island, California. The Daily Mail and CBS News both reported that the cruise ship employee spent nearly nine hours treading water in the Pacific Ocean after going overboard. [1][2]

Fishermen Sean Norton and Grant Garrett were searching for marlin when they spotted the man in the water. According to the Daily Mail, Garrett instructed Norton to stop the boat and bring in their fishing lines after realizing a human being was floating in the ocean. [1]

TheTravel reported that the crew member went overboard from the Ovation of The Seas without any alert being raised. The cruise line Royal Caribbean International was originally founded in Norway in 1969, according to background records. [3][4]
