Colfer will serve as an executive producer on the project, UPI and Variety reported. Variety said the series will follow Artemis Fowl, a 13-year-old genius who uncovers an underground world of armed fairies as he launches a plan to cap them. Ayo Davis, president of Disney Kids & Family, said in a statement that bringing the franchise to life as an animated series offers an opportunity to introduce a new generation to the characters, according to UPI.
