Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen called on the European Commission on Friday to examine Spain's plan to legalise 600,000 irregular migrants. Euronews reported that Frederiksen raised the issue at the start of the second day of the European Union leaders' summit. [1]
Frederiksen accused Madrid of doing almost the exact opposite of the approach adopted by other European Union countries. According to Euronews, her comments directly challenged Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and intensified tensions between the two fellow Socialists. [1]
As FTMQ News reported earlier, Spain remains the most popular international destination for travellers from the United Kingdom. Historically, Spain unified under Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella I of Castile in 1492, which launched an era of global exploration and empire-building. [5][7]
The name Denmark derives from Old Norse terms denoting the borderland of the Danes, referring to the southern frontier zone of Scandinavia. Euronews noted that Frederiksen asked European officials to examine what happens when one country acts contrary to the rest of the bloc on migration policy. [1][4]
