David Ellison, chief executive of the newly formed media company Skydance, denied on Tuesday that he has politicized the company, according to The Guardian. The Guardian reported that Ellison admitted to having a good relationship with the administration during a press briefing. [1]

Ellison clarified his standing during press interactions. While The Guardian reported that Ellison acknowledged a good relationship with the administration, The Hollywood Reporter separately reported that Ellison said he does not have an especially close relationship with Donald Trump. Additionally, the New York Post reported that Ellison told a town hall with Anderson Cooper that he believes deeply in journalism and promised never to interfere with CNN's editorial independence. [1][5][6][9]

CNN reported that Ellison backed CNN's lawsuit against Donald Trump and pledged editorial independence. The New York Post reported that Ellison emphasised the importance of bipartisan, truth-based news during his town hall meeting. [2][5]

The remarks follow a major consolidation in the media industry. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery agreed to operate under the name Skydance following a merger valued at roughly 110 billion dollars. Deadline reported that Ellison and Co-CEO Ynon Kreiz sent a memo to staff thanking them for their patience after closing the deal following fierce opposition. [7][14]
