A police officer was killed and three other officers were injured in a shooting on Thursday evening in Lakewood, Colorado. Fox News reported that officers were responding to a report of a suspicious person trying to board a Regional Transportation District bus when the suspect opened fire. BNO News also reported that three police officers were shot in the city. [1][4]

The incident occurred near the intersection of Colfax Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard at approximately 6:30 p.m., according to Fox News. Lakewood Police Public Information Officer John Romero stated during a news conference that four agents were struck during the encounter, and one agent died from their injuries. [1]

Firstpost reported that a police investigation into the shooting has been launched. Colorado encompasses the eastern high plains and the Rocky Mountains, holding the highest average elevation of any U.S. state. [2][8]
