Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told Israeli President Isaac Herzog during a meeting in Azerbaijan that Israel must halt and reverse the forced establishment of settlements in the West Bank, according to statements reported by Al Jazeera and CGTN. China's foreign ministry released a statement detailing the bilateral discussions. [1][8]

During the meeting, Wang told Herzog that China views the Palestinian issue as the greatest historical injustice of this century, Al Jazeera reported. Wang stated that the two-state solution remains the correct path to resolve the conflict and urged Israel to fully open access routes into Gaza. [1][8]

The West Bank is a landlocked territory bordered by Jordan, the Dead Sea, and Israel. It has been under Israeli occupation since 1967. International pressure over West Bank settlement policy has increased recently, as FTMQ News reported earlier when the United Nations demanded Israel curb settler violence against Palestinian farmers.
