Britain unveiled a new package of 38 sanctions targeting Russian oil companies, oil tankers, and suppliers aiding the Russian military, according to UPI, UNN, and Babel.ua. The measure was announced on Thursday to limit resources used to fund Russia's military actions. [1][3][4]
The latest sanctions package targets two Russian oil companies, 12 oil tankers, and 17 entities and individuals, UPI reported. These entities are accused of supplying Russia with Common High-Priority items, including components utilized in advanced weapons systems. [1]
The British government also targeted financial channels by designating three cryptocurrency exchanges and two payment platforms, according to UPI. The European Union and the United States have similarly classified the restricted military-related goods as high-priority items. [1]
The new financial measures follow other recent international actions against Russia. United States government sanctions administered by the Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control and the Department of Commerce impose trade and financial restrictions against foreign entities to meet national security goals.
