Black bears raid pickup truck for snacks and beer in Tennessee

A family of black bears broke into a white pickup truck outside a couple's home in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, on October 14. The New York Post reported that the animals caused damage to the vehicle while searching inside for food. [1]

Video footage taken by resident Pam Conley showed four black bears exploring the interior of the truck. According to the New York Post, the bears pulled out a bag of snacks followed by a six-pack of beer, which fell onto the driveway pavement. [1]

The residents had not yet unpacked their vehicle, leaving food items inside that attracted the animals. According to the New York Post, the bears were eventually scared away from the property after residents caught them. [1]

The state name Tennessee originates from Tanasi, an overhill Cherokee village located along the Little Tennessee River in Monroe County. The settlement appeared on a 1765 map drawn by explorer Henry Timberlake. [4]
