A jewelry store owner in Lynnwood, Washington, fired his gun at masked suspects after they drove a pickup truck through his business storefront on Tuesday afternoon, the New York Post reported. The attempted robbery took place shortly after 12:25 p.m. at Medina Jewelers. Authorities said no injuries were reported at the scene, but police noted it was unclear if gunfire hit any of the fleeing suspects. [1]
According to the New York Post, surveillance video captured three vehicles circling the parking lot before a white Toyota Tacoma crashed through the front window. The impact shattered the glass and sent employees running for safety. Multiple masked individuals then rushed through the damaged entrance, including one person who appeared to carry an axe. [1]
The intruders were sent scrambling when the store owner pulled out a gun and opened fire, according to local authorities and media reports. The suspects quickly fled the area, and police are investigating the incident. [1]
A separate police pursuit of jewelry store robbers in Miramar, Florida, resulted in a shootout that killed two perpetrators, a kidnapped UPS driver, and a bystander in December 2019. In that incident, law enforcement officers opened fire on the hijacked delivery vehicle after the suspects fired first. [2]
