An Australian court has fined a 74-year-old antiques store owner $10,000 after authorities found more than 700 native animals illegally taxidermied and frozen at his home and business in Victoria, the Guardian reported. Glenn Richard Rollo pleaded guilty on Tuesday to 13 charges following an investigation by state regulators. [1]

Regulators seized the animals from the property last year, according to the Guardian. The collection included native Australian birds such as magpies, galahs, and sulphur-crested cockatoos, alongside mammals including foxes and possums. Video footage showed shelves packed with frozen and silent specimens stored across the premises. [1]

Taxidermy is the process of preserving an animal's body by mounting or stuffing it for display or study, often portraying the animal in a lifelike state. The term applies both to the preservation process and to the finished mounts. [2]
