Asos confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that an unauthorised customer notification was sent through its mobile application, according to the BBC. Dozens of customers reported receiving a message reading ASOS HACKED on Tuesday morning, leaving some users concerned about opening the app. [1]

The BBC reported that the retailer is investigating unauthorised activity involving third-party platforms it uses. Asos acknowledged that some basic personal information may have been accessed during the incident. [1]

The notification was addressed to the data protection officer and IT teams at Asos. Cyber security experts described the message as a brazen extortion attempt, the BBC said. [1]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, thousands of customers received notifications threatening to leak compromised data from cloud platform Snowflake on Telegram. Company shares fell by more than 10 percent following the alert. [2][3]
