Some Airbnb hosts are calling for a boycott of the short term rental platform after the company banned them from asking guests to perform check out chores, Euronews reported. The boycott is being timed for 20 November, when the new rules take effect. [1]

Under the new policy, hosts can no longer require guests to complete tasks such as stripping bed linens or washing dishes, according to Euronews. Travelers have responded positively to the update, while hosts have expressed anger over the restrictions. [1]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, the policy change applies globally to reservations covered by Airbnb and follows years of guest complaints regarding long chore lists alongside high cleaning fees. [4][5]

Airbnb was founded in 2008 by Brian Chesky, Nathan Blecharczyk, and Joe Gebbia. The online marketplace company generated 12.24 billion dollars in full year revenue for 2025. [2][3][4][5]
