Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El Sayed claimed that Israel should not be considered a ally of the United States, according to the New York Post, The Jerusalem Post, Israel National News, and the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. El Sayed stated during an interview on ABC News with Linsey Davis that it is time to realize Israel is not a friend. [1][2][3][4][5]

The New York Post reported that El Sayed argued that allies are supposed to care implicitly rather than just use another nation. He stated that the government of Israel has done nothing but use the United States, adding that an ally that takes money to push another country into unwanted wars is not a true ally. [1]

During the interview, El Sayed compared the relationship to a child dealing with a friend who continuously bums money, talks behind their back, and causes fights with other friends. The New York Post reported that he suggested people would advise their child that such a person is not actually a friend. [1]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, El Sayed won the Democratic nomination for the Michigan Senate seat held by retiring Senator Gary Peters. He is running against Republican candidate Mike Rogers in the November 3 election, following a primary victory over Representative Haley Stevens, who has since endorsed him. [7][8]

As FTMQ News also previously reported, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee spent over 30 million dollars against El Sayed during the Democratic primary. The group is spending nearly 95,000 dollars to oppose him in the general election campaign. [8]
