Texas Governor Greg Abbott has criticized his Democratic opponent, state Representative Gina Hinojosa, calling her lawsuit against him a sham after a court ruled in her favor. The Washington Examiner and Bloomberg Law News reported that a district court issued an order allowing Hinojosa to inspect Abbott's private communications with SpaceX founder Elon Musk. The legal dispute began earlier this month after Hinojosa filed a lawsuit claiming Abbott refused to provide access to documents detailing his messages with Musk. [1][5][10]

The legal action comes as Musk supports the Texas governor financially. According to Politico, Musk donated 5 million dollars to Abbott's campaign in the Texas gubernatorial race. [5]

Abbott has actively moved to block access to the records. Reports from Houston Public Media and KSAT confirm that the governor filed an appeal, which temporarily freezes Hinojosa's ability to view the emails and communications. [8][9]

Musk is the chief executive officer of Tesla and SpaceX and became the world's first trillionaire in June 2026. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Musk has also faced scrutiny from United States lawmakers regarding satellite internet services provided by his companies. [11][15]
