Elon Musk unveils flying Tesla Roadster at SpaceX Texas facility

Elon Musk revealed his long-promised flying Tesla Roadster on Thursday night during a live event at the testing facility of SpaceX in McGregor, Texas, according to the Daily Mail. During the demonstration, the vehicle went up an upside down ramp before doing a mid-air flip. Musk declared that flying cars are real and promised to make them available by 2028. [1]

The Daily Mail reported that the retooled Roadster is a revival of Tesla's original car, which has not been in production since 2012. Musk previously stated last year that the vehicle would fly, mentioning that fellow billionaire Peter Thiel had expressed interest in a flying vehicle. [1]

Musk is the chief executive officer and largest shareholder of Tesla and SpaceX. Forbes estimates his net worth at 1.1 trillion dollars as of October 2026, making him the wealthiest person in the world and the only trillionaire since June 2026. [9]
